The sunlight shines in through the skylight, waking me slowly. Diego’s warm body is practically on top of mine, almost like I’m in a safe cocoon. The ache between my legs isn’t as bad as I thought it would be…thankfully. Last night after our bath, I sat at the counter while he made us a couple of sandwiches. We munched on those while watching a movie, and then I fell asleep, only waking as he gently stood me up and walked me to his bedroom.
I roll over the best I can and take in Diego’s sleeping form. He’s a lot less intimidating while he’s sleeping. His facial hair is dark this morning, and it makes a rasping sound as my fingers rub against his cheek. I watch his eyes flutter open, and his lips tip up into a soft smile. “Morning, baby.” His voice is roughened with sleep, his accent thicker.
“Morning.” He pulls me close, kissing my lips. Apparently he’s not bothered by morning breath. “I have to be at the café in two hours,” I say with a pout.
“Okay, but first breakfast.”
We climb out of bed, and he leaves me to shower and get ready while he makes breakfast. After I climb out of the shower, I find a cup of coffee just the way I like it sitting on the counter, and I can’t help the smile that graces my lips. He’s very thoughtful, definitely not like the man I met at the start of the semester. I hum to myself while I braid my hair and then put on my makeup. Back in Diego’s bedroom, my uniform, which is black dress pants and white dress shirt, is lying on his bed along with my bra and panties.
I quickly don my uniform and slip on my black ballet flats before stuffing all of my clothes into my bag and then throwing it over my shoulder. Out in the kitchen, I find Diego stirring something at the stove. He turns to me, smiling. “Come here, beautiful.”
Setting my bag down, I go to him and melt as he wraps an arm around me, pulling me close to him. I tip my head back, accepting his kiss. He grabs my braid, and using it to hold me immobile, he deepens the kiss. His tongue demands entrance into my mouth, so I open to him. He finally pulls away, and I can’t help but laugh because he kept stirring what looks like grits while he kissed me. “I love grits.”
“Get us some coffee and I’ll finish breakfast.” We make light chitchat while he whips up some eggs and makes some toast. He sets my plate and bowl in front of me and kisses me on top of the head before grabbing his own. Side by side, we sit and dig into our food.
A half hour later and Diego has pulled up in front of my apartment building. He turns toward me in his seat. “I want to kiss you right now, but we’re too close to campus.
